This artisan home bakery sprung to life because I was constantly craving for sweet and savoury delicacies from my hometown, Singapore, after settling in Northern Ireland. I have quite a knack for home cooking but never intended to give baking a go, even brushed off my family’s suggestion to try it. However, the calm and serene surroundings of our home played a part in inspiring me to start baking and I discovered that I have a natural talent for it. It wasn’t long before my enterprising instincts kicked in. I started learning old recipes and baking my favourite festive treats that I grew up with which were must-haves in the Malay family household during Eid celebrations. At the same time, I wanted to make these treats healthier and safer to consume as I am passionate about eating real, organic and nutritious food for the physical well-being and hopefully, longevity. I also wanted to make it Irish. So, I combined the elements of classic and traditional Malay treats recipes, the use of organic, premium & non-processed ingredients and local produce, a wee kitchen in a cosy cabin in the beautiful Northern Irish countryside, Irish lingo and my married name, to create Mrs. Brennan’s Buns.
